Is a background check required to volunteer in the school?
Yes. You must complete a background check to enter the school to volunteer or for a class party. Allen ISD Instructions
How do I volunteer in the Library or Cafeteria?
To volunteer, please go to the Volunteers page on the Boon PTA website and select which one you would like to do, Library Volunteer Opportunities or Cafeteria Volunteer Opportunities. From there you will then select the day and time you would like to voluteer.
What would I do as a Library volunteer?
Volunteers will help with shelving returned library books, assisting with checking out books to students, and book repair.
What would I do as a Cafeteria volunteer?
You will assist the cafeteria monitors with jobs such as handing out napkins/silverware, assisting with opening items. When you arrive in the cafeteria, "check in" with a cafeteria monitor and they can help you get started. There is also a cafeteria information sheet on the bookshelf to the left when you enter the cafeteria (info about rules, etc.).
How do I become a Room Parent?
To become a Room Parent, visit the Volunteers page on the Boon PTA website and select Room Parent Volunteer Opportunities and fill out the form.
What would I do as a Room Parent?
As a room parent, your main responsibilities are to organize and oversee volunteers, communicate the teacher's needs to the parents, plan seasonal parties, and to assist the teacher in various activities.
How do I join the PTA board?
If you are interested in joining the board or helping to Chair a committe, please contact our PTA President, Courtney Visalli at President@boonpta.org. She can help guide you in the right direction.

To learn more about volunteer opportunities, please go to the Volunteers page on the Boon PTA website and select the 2024-2025 Volunteers Opportunities form and select which opportunities you would like to hear more about.

How does the Boon PTA fundraise?
Our primary fundraisers are: Boon Annual Fund (formerly Boonsters) & Popcorn Club.
What is the Boon Annual Fund (formerly Boonsters)?
The Boon Annual Fund is someone who makes a donation to the school to help support our Boon students, staff and community.
What is the Popcorn Club?
The Popcorn Club is where your student will receive a bag of gourmet popcorn delivered monthy to their classroom starting in September. There is a $36 fee for the entire school year.
What does Boon do with the money raised?
The money raised goes towards the support of our Boon students, staff and community. Some of the things we do with the money are holiday parties, family picnics, supplies for the schhol, teacher appreciation, special enrichment experiences for students (Skydome Planetarium, Dinosaur George, etc.), programs to support the health of the community and scholarships. What is the difference between a Class Shirt and Spirit Wear?
A class shirt is worn on field trips, student assemblies, field day, grade level performances, and other special events. Spirit Wear can be worn anytime of the year to show support for our Boon Patriots.
Do I have to buy a class shirt every year?
Yes, you have to buy a class shirt every year as every year the color shirt changes per grade level.
What is a GLC?
A GLC (Grade Level Coordinator) coordinates activities for their individual grade and each teacher's designated room parent.
How do I find out what is going on?
To find out what things are happening throughout Boon, sign up for the weekly newsletter, the Patriot Post by updating your My Account Settings > Calendar Subscriptions. Also, be sure to connect to your grade levels Facebook page.
